Imaginative Paintings of Roz Nixon

Welcome to my website. So glad you found me. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I was born in Arkansas, raised in Tennessee, lived in Japan and California. I now make my home in Georgia. I have two beautiful daughters, five precious grandchildren and an incredible husband/best friend.

The desire to express myself in a creative way has been a powerful force in my life as far back as I can remember. You know how your mouth waters when you see a double fudge, chocolate sundae, well, just take me into an Art Store or an Art Gallery, my mouth waters, my heart pounds, and my knees get weak. I just can't wait to get hold of a brush and a canvas.

I am self-taught, although I did take as many Art History Classes as my busy child rearing years would allow.

My style and interest are diverse, ranging from Abstract to what I call, a mixture of Modern, Naive Impressionism, in other words I paint what I like, how I like it.

I love playing with texture, especially when it leads me in an unconventional direction.  I allow my brush strokes to flow free and uninhibited.  I am not interested in painting in a detailed or realistic manner. To paraphrase a quote from Picasso, "I paint objects as I think them not as I see them".

I use a palette that is rich and alluring, so each color brings out the best in it's fellow colors.   My imagination is romantic with a whisper of humor.

.I have been influenced by several artist, but am a special fan of Diego Rivera, Amadeo Modigliani, and Pablo Picasso.

You will find my paintings in collections thru-out the U.S.

I am forever inspired by the greatest artist of all, thank you Lord Jesus!
